Neptune Fountain
Neptune Fountain
Quennell Rothschild & Partners prepared a restoration master plan for this 83-acre park and cultural complex, which included restoration of paths and historic landscape features, as well as a new outdoor performance facility and public gardens. Several projects from the master plan have now been completed, including the restoration of the Neptune Fountain, which was originally constructed in 1898.

Restoration of the fountain involved reconstruction of a 60-foot diameter cast iron basin, with a statue of Neptune at its center, as well as the replication of historic site elements, walks, benches, planting and lighting. Extensive historical research was required to determine the original design of missing fountain elements and the methods of construction. The fountain basin was rebuilt, the original cast iron panels re-installed, and missing elements were replicated. A new mechanical system was designed to recreate the original water displays. The project has won awards from both state and local Preservation Leagues.
