Quennell Rothschild & Partners are landscape architects and planners who have created and restored numerous parks, waterfronts, plazas, streetscapes and cultural facilities for a wide range of public and private clients. The firm is led by partners Andrew Moore, Alison Shipley, Mark Bunnell, Beth Franz and Nate Harris. We offer a full range of analysis, design and construction related services including site evaluation and the preparation of master plans, contract drawings and construction administration. We have organized extensive successful public outreach programs, directed and coordinated large sub-consultant teams and developed broadly-supported, rapidly implemented designs.

Based on the broad experience of our partners and core staff, QRP has established itself as a leading consultant in landscape architecture and planning, known for innovation and sound application of technical principles, accurate preparation of construction documents and effective project management. Each of the firm's projects is supervised and reviewed by one or more of the firm's partners, who each have over 25 years of professional experience. The firm brings substantial technical expertise and recent experience in the design and renovation of urban parks, playgrounds, sports facilities, waterfronts, streetscapes and open spaces. The firm has developed a reputation for creative design and imaginative thinking about the design process, while remaining solidly grounded in the reality of what can be built. Our approach focuses on the unique characteristics of each site and the special requirements of each project, while maintaining a core commitment to environmental sustainability. We offer a long, successful track record of reviving deteriorated, derelict urban spaces and incorporating public outreach programs.

The firm has completed many technically complex projects, including those involving ecologically challenged sites, such as our recently completed Statue of Liberty Museum and current work at Brooklyn's waterfront for Nature Walk at the Newtown Creek Water Treatment Plant for NYC DEP and DDC. We have also worked on numerous projects for DDC, EDC, LMDC and other city agencies, as well as projects requiring multiple regulatory reviews — Quennell Rothschild & Partners created the master plan and design concept plan for the entire phased construction of Hudson River Park on Manhattan's west side, and projects such as PLANYC Rockaway Park in Queens, The Battery in lower Manhattan, and Peck Slip in Manhattan's Seaport district involved complex technical and regulatory issues.

Our numerous award-winning designs within historic landscapes include master renovation plans for Morningside Park and portions of Central and Prospect Parks in New York City; for Princeton University's 7,000 acre campus in New Jersey; for Fountain of the Fairs in Flushing Meadows Corona Park and for Hartford's Bushnell Park. We are experts in defining cost-effective, easily maintained, and environmentally responsive designs that retain and respect historical features while creating durable, useful public spaces. For the U.S. Treasury Department, we designed a landscaped security treatment for the White House grounds, proposing the elimination of vehicular traffic along Pennsylvania Ave. and created historically appropriate public open spaces, sensitive to increased security demands.

Quennell Rothschild & Partners views every project as potentially providing a variety of opportunities for implementing sustainable/green design principles, and our staff includes several LEED-accredited professionals. We work with civil engineers and other specialists to solve the technical problems that must be addressed in designing sustainable landscapes, including soil and storm water management. Our landscape designs seek to minimize the maintenance burden, and consider the levels of staffing, maintenance skill and budget, to create effective long term management programs.
