Quennell Rothschild & Partners was invited to join SHoP Architects for the redevelopment of this four-acre waterfront park in Greenport Village, Long Island. The site was a former brownfield in need of serious remediation. The park features a house for a beloved antique carousel, a ferry terminal, a seasonal ice rink, a harborwalk, an amphitheater and water gardens.
The park, which has become the town hub for civic action and recreation, is characterized by a distinctive material palette, including weathered hardwoods, steel, etched glass, lead-coated copper roofing and bluestone with a network of light planks set into the walk.
