Casey Key Beach House
The current owners of the historic Burkhardt Residence by Paul Rudolph (1956) on Casey Key near Sarasota, FL commissioned QRP to create a new landscape design for the four-acre site incorporating the new guest-house by architect Toshiko Mori.
The property spans the island with frontage on both the Gulf of Mexico and Little Sarasota Bay and includes more than forty mature Live Oaks and other specimen plantings. The new plan employs a range of indigenous plant materials reflecting the microclimates of both the ocean and bay waterfronts. The guest-house property was sensitively incorporated, maintaining vistas throughout. Paths through the existing woodland connect the two houses and provide beach access.
